Supplier code of conduct

A starting point for the standards you expect from suppliers, for your legal team to adapt.

Templates are guides only. They must be completed and checked by your legal team before use. This is not legal advice.

Why have one

A supplier code of conduct sets out the standards you expect from the businesses you work with. It supports your own obligations, for example under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the Bribery Act 2010, and gives you something clear to point to if a supplier falls short.

What the template covers

  • Human rights and modern slavery, including no forced, bonded or child labour
  • Fair pay, working hours and health and safety
  • Equality, diversity and non-discrimination
  • Anti-bribery and corruption, gifts and hospitality
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Data protection and confidentiality
  • Environmental responsibility
  • Responsible sourcing and sub-contractors
  • How to raise concerns, and protection for whistleblowers
  • Monitoring, audit and what happens if the code is breached

Using it in SupplierVault

  1. Open Templates, choose the supplier code of conduct and adapt it with your legal team.
  2. Set the version, so you know which version each supplier signed.
  3. Send it to suppliers as part of onboarding. SupplierVault records who signed, their role and the date.
  4. Live suppliers without a signed code are flagged so you can follow up.
